Andy Allanson, a former Major League Baseball catcher, grew up on a corn and cattle farm in Virginia, where his family has lived for over 400 years. A standout high school athlete, he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, earning scholarship offers in all three sports. He chose to attend the University of Richmond, where he was named NCAA 1ST Team All-American Catcher.
Drafted in the 2nd round by the Cleveland Indians, Andy made an immediate impact, earning a spot on the Tops All-Rookie Team. Over his 13-year professional baseball career, he became known for his defensive skills and leadership on the field.
Beyond baseball, Andy has demonstrated his innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. He is the inventor of the Wripzit Glove Band and the Athlyze Sports Testing Kit. He also authored “A Taste of the American League,” a guide to player-recommended dining, and “Game-Changer Moms,” a playbook on sports testing.
A devoted family man, Andy is the proud father of six children and grandfather to three. His passion for education and athletics led to his appointment by founders Dr. Woodard, Megan Freeman, and Kathrine Heredia as the architect of Elite Academic Academy’s Athletic Department.
